Lombok is building its own demand base
The Lombok story is becoming more mature. Indonesia Travel positions the island around beaches, Mount Rinjani, marine life, the Gilis, Kuta Lombok, Selong Belanak and culture-rich Sasak villages. That gives Lombok several layers of demand: beach holidays, surf trips, honeymoon travel, family escapes, wellness retreats, diving and soft adventure.
Mandalika adds an events and infrastructure layer
ANTARA reported the 2025 Mandalika MotoGP attracted around 142,000 spectators, while government and tourism stakeholders continue to frame Mandalika as a world-class sport tourism destination. That kind of event demand does not replace normal leisure travel — it adds another layer to it. For property markets, layers matter because they create more reasons for visitors to arrive throughout the year.
Connectivity is the unlock
A separate ANTARA report described a fast-boat pier being developed as a future gateway between Mandalika and Bali. Combined with Lombok International Airport’s role in regional access, improved connectivity can make the island easier to include in multi-stop trips. For buyers, better access tends to make a destination more bookable, more visible and easier for managers to operate.
Laguna Prime view
Lombok is not “the next Bali” in a lazy marketing sense. It is better viewed as a complementary coastal market with its own pace, landscapes and guest profile. The best opportunities will likely favour patient buyers who understand location, access, infrastructure timing and the difference between raw land speculation and a villa product guests can actually book.
